At a special called meeting Thursday night, the Christian County Board of Health approved this year’s audit and voted to request a report that could help decide the future of the health department’s pension plan.

Tommy Turner with Thurman Campbell Group, PLC presented audits for both the health department and the taxing district. He said the health department received a clean audit and there were no findings.

He also presented the pension disclosures, which Turner noted is not part of the financial system.

Turner added the report on internal control was clean and there were no deficiencies found, and the compliance report that relates to major programs of federal awards was also clean.

He also pointed out the taxing district net income was over $600,000, compared to a  $76,000 last year. He noted the difference is due to the board’s decision to move less money from the taxing district over to the health department.

In other business, Director Kayla Bebout stated that Bill 1 gives quasi-agencies the option to opt-out of the state’s retirement system with an effective succession date of June 30, 2020. She explained they have three options the health department can take part in.

Bebout added they could ask for an Actuarial Report from the Kentucky Retirement System by December 30th to help them make a decision.

Board members unanimously approved a motion to pay $1,500 to request the report.

The next regular health board meeting will be Monday night, January 27, 2020, at 5:30.
