Trigg Historical Society Hosting An Essay Contest

The Trigg County Historical Society is partnering with Trigg County Public Schools for an essay contest that began this week.

Society Education Chair Linda Wood says middle and high school students can participate in the written or video essay contest.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, February 28, 2020, with home school and private school students welcome to submit an entry. Information for the contest can be picked up at the Trigg County Board of Education office on Main Street in Cadiz.

Wood adds they have also created a workbook for younger students titled “We Love Our Ole’ Kentucky Home – Trigg County”.

Committee member Deborah Bridges notes renovation work is continuing on the Trigg County Museum.

During the 2020 school year, a job shadowing apprenticeship will open for high school students to work in the museum. Students will be able to catalog museum artifacts, assist in setting up and maintaining educational displays, and help the people research their heritage electronically.

The Trigg County Historical Society meets the first Tuesday of every month at 6:00 PM at 39 Jefferson Street in Cadiz.
