Hopkinsville Man Charged With Assaulting His Wife

A Hopkinsville man was charged after he allegedly severely assaulted his wife on Charlie Court Monday night.

Hopkinsville Police Sgt. Ceasar Sierra said 57-year-old Robert Moorefield assaulted his wife by hitting her with his fist and hitting her head on the concrete floor before forcing her into the bathroom.

The woman already had multiple health problems and the assault reportedly caused injuries to her head, arm, and hand.

During the fight, the woman allegedly called for police and Moorefield took her phone and broke it.

The woman was taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center by ambulance, said Sierra adding due to her prior medical problems its unknown if the injuries will be life-threatening.

As police transported Moorefield to the jail he reportedly spit in the car and yelled obscenities at another driver at a red light.

Police say Moorefield admitted to being “Methed Out”. He is charged with second-degree assault and first-degree unlawful imprisonment.
