WKWFB Held Successful Job And Resource Fair Thursday

The James E. Bruce Convention Center was filled with people looking for employment Thursday as the West Kentucky Workforce Board (WKWFB) hosted a job and resources fair.

Director Sheila Clark tells the News Edge the job fair was open to everyone, especially those who lost their jobs in November when Ebonite International suddenly closed their doors in Hopkinsville.

Clark adds there are many reasons it is important to get these people back into the workforce, including to help the local economy.

Clark notes the board has career centers open weekdays to assist those who need help finding their next job.

Bridgestone Metalpha was among numerous local employers on hand during the event. HR Generalist Yasmine Carrion says their Clarksville factory is looking to fill positions.

Carrion adds it is easy to fill out an application.

During the job fair, people were able to get assistance they may have never needed before. United Way of the Pennyrile President Annie Catron says the resource fair served as a chance for people to learn about various organizations that exist in our community.

Catron adds they will post resources that are available for the community on their Facebook page.

The West Kentucky Workforce Board hopes to hold another job fair in early 2020 to help those who were unable to attend the event.
