Hopkinsville Man Charged After Reports Of Shots Fired

A Hopkinsville man was charged with wanton endangerment after police reportedly heard him discharge a gun on Sarah Avenue Monday night.

Hopkinsville Police say 27-year-old Demerriel Harris was seen by police jumping up and down by the driver door of a vehicle and playing music very loudly after hearing a shot fired in the area.

A handgun was reportedly in plain view on the driver seat of the vehicle and officers could allegedly smell alcohol coming from Harris.

A shell casing was reportedly located behind Harris’s vehicle on the roadway, and marijuana along with a digital scale were found inside his vehicle.

He is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, trafficking in marijuana less than 8 ounces, and alcohol intoxication in a public place.
