Lyon County has been awarded nearly $650,000 in discretionary funds for critical pavement improvements. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Department of Rural and Municipal Aid Commissioner Gray Tomblyn II announced the awarding of funds at a fiscal court meeting Tuesday.

The funds will be used to address resurfacing issues along sections of Parkersville Road, Hylan Drive, Beechwood Road, Center Ridge Road, Eddy Creek Road, Arrowhead Road, George Thomas Road, Rice Road, Oriole Drive, and Jenkins Road.

Officials state the $647,023 in discretionary funding supports Gov. Matt Bevin’s commitment to prioritize transportation infrastructure projects and increase economic opportunity in communities across the Commonwealth.

Lyon County Judge-Executive Wade White expressed that rising expenses for county services have reduced the amount of money the county has to invest in roads, but thanks to Secretary Thomas the county can now use the awarded funds to make needed improvements to the county’s roads to maintain the integrity of its road system. Improvements to the designated roads will benefit six businesses and 175 homes.
