Hopkinsville Man Charged With Assaulting Police Officer

A Hopkinsville man was arrested after he reportedly punched a police officer Monday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say 56-year-old Richard Wilson was seen walking in the parking lot of a closed business on East 14th Street and when they attempted to stop him he fled.

After being stopped Wilson reportedly punched an officer and in the fight ripped the officer’s uniform.

Wilson was allegedly found to have meth and drug paraphernalia on him. He is charged with possession of meth, third-degree assault, second-degree fleeing or evading police, third-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
