HCC Names 2019 Benefactors of the Year

The Sam and Bonnie Rechter Family Trust, Rogers Group Investments have been named 2019 Benefactors of the Year by Hopkinsville Community College President Dr. Alissa Young. HCC officials say the Rechters’ gifts to the college include investment in the Emerging Technologies Center recently opened on campus. A classroom on the first floor of the new facility bears the name of the trust.

According to Lori Harper, the daughter of the Rechters who are Louisville residents, the trust invests in education, children and health projects, with the family providing guidance to the Community Foundation of Louisville on how funds should be designated. The trust was created in the early 1990s. Officials indicate the Rechters and their family are deeply committed to the communities in which they live, making financial investments in those areas. Dr. Young says they are grateful to the Rechters for providing new spaces for instruction, and their gifts will resonate for many years as students train in career fields and technologies.

Harper will represent the Rechters at the upcoming HCC Foundation Gala on November 1 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Bruce Convention Center. As we previously reported this week, sponsorship opportunities and tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling HCC’s Chief Institutional Advancement Officer at (270) 707-3733.
