Trigg Homemakers Celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The Trigg County Extension Homemakers held their 84th annual county meeting Thursday evening with a Go Pink theme to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness month in October.

County Extension Agent Cecelia Hostilo shared a quote from pop singer Miley Cyrus in regards to their Go Pink theme.

Lisa Cunningham, a breast cancer survivor, spoke at the meeting about her survival story. She says her family and her faith were instrumental in her healing.

Cunningham co-founded the Pink Ribbon Network in Hopkinsville with Kathy Anderson, who is also a breast cancer survivor. Cunningham notes she is surprised by the success of their group.

She encourages women to get regular check-ups and take care of themselves.

During the meeting, they gave awards to members of the Homemakers and elected new officers. The event raised $436 for the Pink Ribbon Network.
