Beshear Releases Plan On Boosting Tourism And Hospitality

Kentucky Governor candidate Andy Beshear released a plan Thursday on how he would boost tourism and hospitality, if he’s elected into office November 5.

Beshear tells the News Edge targeting marketing could help the state.

He adds the state can and should be doing better.

Beshear notes the extra tax money from increased tourism could help every Kentucky family.

In 2018, $7.6-billion was spent by visitors to the state, with the tourism industry currently supporting over 90,000 jobs and generating nearly $800-million in state and local taxes annually.

He says it will be important to him to be a good governor for western Kentucky.

Beshear’s plan also includes focusing on hospitality and making it a good-paying career pathway, make Kentucky a world-class outdoor and adventure tourism destination, focus on sports, expanded gaming, and repealing the camping tax.

Beshear is running against Republican incumbent Matt Bevin during the November General Election.
