Ground Broken For New Kitchen At Boys And Girls Club

The dream of a kitchen and cafeteria at the Boys and Girls Club in Hopkinsville came one step closer to reality Wednesday afternoon with an official groundbreaking ceremony.

The 2,100 square-foot addition will have a kitchen for the preparation of food and a cafeteria that will allow up to 75 youth to eat at one time.

right-click to download mp3Board President, Angie Goode thanked a long list of contributors who provided financial support to make the project possible.

Boys and Girls Club Executive Director, Terrance Davis, says the ceremony was the culmination of years of hard work by the board and the staff to raise the funds for the new addition. He says it will allow them to better serve the children.
Mayor Carter Hendricks added his thanks to all those who worked hard and made financial contributions to make the project possible noting it is a good cause.

Former Mayor Dan Kemp, who was one of the leaders in the capital campaign, led in the groundbreaking ceremony. He was joined by community leaders, staff, board members, donors, and several children who attend the Boys and Girls Club in turning the first shovels of dirt.

It is anticipated that the new addition will be completed in the spring of 2020.
