Naturefest Week Declared At Jeffers Bend Environmental Center

Christian County magistrate Mark Cansler declared next week as Naturefest Week at Jeffers Bend Environmental Center in Hopkinsville.

Over 60 fourth graders from Sinking Fork Elementary School were on hand Friday morning to hear the proclamation and take part in several activities to learn about nature.

Charles Turner, Pennyrile Resource Conservation and Development Coordinator says the children took turns at six stations.

 

He adds they will host other fourth grade classes from University Height’s Academy, South Christian Elementary, and Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary over the next few weeks.

Turner notes their annual Naturefest event will take place next Saturday afternoon, September 21 from 1:00 to 5:00.

 

Other activities include; a Walk in the Garden with Master Gardeners, archery, a butterfly garden, hayrides, old tire obstacle course, among others.

Admission for Naturefest will be $10 a car, $15 a bus – up to 25 people, $30 a bus with 26 or more people, and free admission for active-duty military and first responders with ID.
