Cadiz Woman Arrested After Being Victimized By Alleged Scam At Subway

A Cadiz woman was arrested after she allegedly took cash from a Subway Saturday afternoon after allegedly being scammed.

The Trigg County Sheriff’s Office reports they were dispatched to the Subway on Canton Road around 4:30 PM in reference to 29-year old Heather Sims taking money and leaving the store.

Sims reportedly told officers that she took a phone call that was answered by an employee after the caller asked to speak to someone in charge. The caller told Sims they were from the corporate office and asked her to ring up a purchase and count the money in the cash register drawer. Once Sims finished counting, the person on the phone advised her that $800 was missing and that she needed to open the safe and get more money.

Sims allegedly took $537.30 and sent it to western Alabama via Western Union. She admitted to taking the money, but only because she thought the scam caller was from the corporate office.

Sims is charged with theft by unlawful taking over $500 and was lodged in the Christian County Jail.
