Hopkinsville Man Charged With Choking His Girlfriend

A Hopkinsville man was charged after he reportedly choked his girlfriend on Old Clarksville Pike Sunday night.

Hopkinsville Police say 24-year-old Cameron Merritt wrapped his hands around his girlfriend’s throat during an argument.

She was able to get away from him and lock herself in the bathroom and call for police.

Merritt reportedly broke a picture frame and was banging on the door and wall violently.

He is charged with first-degree strangulation and possession of marijuana.
