Donors Get First Look At HCC’s Emerging Technologies Center

Hopkinsville Community College welcomed donors to the new Emerging Technologies building Friday afternoon to get the first look at what their donations provided for the school.

College President Dr. Alissa Young says the building project is now fully funded, after a recent $50,000 donation.

She adds they are excited to have the new building for students.

Build Smart Capital Campaign co-chair Eston Glover notes the community helped in a big way.

He says the building will serve a huge role in educating students around the region.

Campaign co-chair Terri Henderson shared a special poem to thank each of the donors who supported the $15-million dollar building.

Work for the building began in 2014 after the Kentucky General Assembly authorized Governor Steve Beshear’s initiative for the KCTCS BuildSmart Investment for Kentucky Competitiveness.
Construction began in October of 2017, with a few finishing touches to be completed over the next few weeks as students return to class Monday.
A ribbon cutting for the building is slated to take place Thursday, August 29 at noon, with the public invited to attend.
