City of Crofton Awarded CDBG Grant

The City of Crofton has been awarded a Community Development Block Grant for housing reconstruction and rehabilitation projects. Governor Matt Bevin made the announcement Friday morning and said that over $3.4 million dollars in CDBG funding will go toward housing rehabilitation projects across Kentucky.

The federal funding, allocated by the U.S. Department of Urban Development and administered by the Kentucky Department for Local Government, will benefit 45 families in Christian, Hopkins, Campbell, Perry and Scott counties.

State officials indicate the City of Crofton was awarded $366,000 for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of five homes for low- and moderate-income families. In addition, Hopkins County Fiscal Court was awarded $1 million for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of eleven homes for low- and moderate-income families.

The CDBG program, overseen by HUD, provides assistance to communities for use in revitalizing neighborhoods, expanding affordable housing and economic opportunities, providing infrastructure and/or improving community facilities and services. CDBG projects must comply with federal regulations, and funding is determined based upon project needs, reasonable costs, and overall effectiveness.
