Governor Candidates Discuss State Issues With KY Farm Bureau

Governor Matt Bevin and Democrat Attorney General Andy Beshear are committed to cleaning up Frankfort and moving Kentucky forward, but each has a very different road map.

Bevin and Beshear addressed a number of issues posed by the Kentucky Farm Bureau executive committee during the 2019 Measure the Candidate Forum at Farm Bureau Headquarters in Louisville Wednesday.

During opening remarks, Beshear said it is important to maintain respect while serving in the state’s highest office.

Governor Bevin said one of his main priorities is changing the culture in Frankfort.

When asked about tax reform, Governor Bevin said it is critical but will take time.

Beshear said he supports tax reform, but not the way it is being done.

When questioned about rural broadband and economic development, Beshear said economic development is critical for all parts of the state.

Meanwhile, Governor Bevin said his administration is already working through public, private partnerships to expand broadband in rural parts of the state.

Both also addressed the state budget, pension reform and a number of other issues including the need for an Interstate 69 bridge in Henderson to connect to Indiana.
