Christian Fiscal Court Hears Complaints On Speeding

Residents of the Woodbine Street neighborhood shared a few concerns Tuesday morning during the Christian County Fiscal Court meeting.

During public comments, Paul Coleman, a property owner and resident on the road shared concerns about the lack of law enforcement presence.

Sheriff Tyler DeArmond stated they are on Woodbine and surrounding roads numerous times each week, whether recovering stolen property or patrolling the neighborhood.

In other public comments, Ronald Wadell shared a concern about vehicles traveling too fast along Woodbine Street.

Judge/Executive Steve Tribble says the process to change the speed limit is not hard.

He notes it’s important for the entire neighborhood to agree on a speed limit.

In other business, Chris Jung and Tony Henson from the Hopkinsville Sportsplex told magistrates things are going very well. July 9 marked the sixth month anniversary of opening, with Jung noting they have seen over 57,000 guests.

Magistrates also approved to reappoint Walter Cummings to the county treasurer position. His term will expire on June 30, 2023. Former county attorney Mike Foster was also reappointed to the South West Kentucky Economic Development Council, with a term to expire on June 30, 2021.
