Warrant Issued For Gilbertsville Man In Connection To Fatal Dog Attack

Authorities say a warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Gilbertsville man in connection to the death of a man who was attacked by three pit bulls Saturday.

State police report 29-year old Daniel Alexander is charged with tampering with physical evidence and failing to notify authorities after finding a body. An investigation began after 46-year old Brian Butler of Gilberstville was found dead by a passing motorist who called 911 Saturday night. As we have previously reported, an autopsy Sunday determined that Butler died due to sharp force trauma from a dog attack.

Police say Alexander tampered with physical evidence at the scene and had knowledge of Butler’s body being on McCoy Lane but did not contact the proper authorities.

Alexander’s three pit bulls have been quarantined by the Marshall County Animal Control. Police add they feel confident that his dogs were the only ones responsible for the attack, however, Gilbertsville residents are urged to exercise caution toward any roaming dogs in the area.
