Summer In The City Interns To Graduate Friday

Six students from Hopkinsville High School are graduating Mayor Carter Hendricks’ Summer in the City internship program this week.

According to the mayor’s office 2019 graduates, Dakota Garner, Yogianah McKnight, Dustin Wilcox, and Hayden Woolsey; along with 2020 graduates Paige Jenkins and Tanishka Singh will complete the internship Friday. The interns participated in a three-week program undertaking various projects, developed computer, and workplace skills, networked and learned how municipal government works while exploring possible career paths. Each of the students will earn a $500 check and a letter of recommendation.

Mayor Hendricks says his office enjoyed hosting the interns this summer and hopes they had a wonderful experience.

The program launched in 2007 and offers students internship opportunities in one of three departments: Administration, Fire, and Police. Fifty-eight other Christian County youth have served as city interns since the inception of the program.
