Kentucky Ranked As Number 34 In New Kids Count Book

The 30th annual Kids Count Data Book on children’s well-being was released Monday.

The book, published by the Annie E. Casey Foundation, provides a detailed picture of how children are faring in the United States.

Todd County Standard Publisher Ryan Craig tells the News Edge Kentucky ranks 34th among the 50 states. He adds the best rank for the state is in the health category.

Kentucky Health reports the state continues to make progress in the areas of economic well-being and teen births, but the book shows that more than one in five Kentucky children live in poverty, and 10 percent of them live in families where the head of the household doesn’t have a high-school diploma.
