Montgomery Reflects On Time As Hopkinsville Fire Chief

Retiring Chief Freddie Montgomery says he will miss the Hopkinsville Fire Department but is looking forward to a new chapter in his career at the helm of the Clarksville Fire Department.

When asked by the News Edge what he will miss the most about Hopkinsville, Chief Montgomery said pretty much everything.

When asked about the challenge of leading a much larger fire and rescue department in Clarksville, Montgomery borrowed a comment from Hopkinsville Mayor Carter Hendricks.

Montgomery announced Tuesday he is retiring from the Hopkinsville Fire Department August 1. Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts announced Wednesday morning he has selected Montgomery to be the next Clarksville Fire and Rescue Chief. Montgomery will begin his new duties August 1.
