KY Lottery Closing Fiscal Year With Strong Sales

The Kentucky Lottery is continuing to perform ahead of expectations in the final weeks of the 2019 Fiscal Year.

According to the lottery, year-to-date sales through the end of May 2019 were at $1.035 billion, which was around $77.7 million ahead of sales through the previous fiscal year. Officials state this is the earliest point within a fiscal year that they have hit the billion dollars sales mark and marks the third straight year in reaching the milestone.

Strong performances in the Mega Millions game up more than $23 million, with strong Scratch-off ticket sales up more than $48 million contributing to the success.

During a Friday board meeting, members approved the budget for the 2020 Fiscal Year. The budget calls for a 6.5% sales increase, which would set the sales goal at $1.2 billion. In other business, the board voted to approve Keno and Scratch-off retailer incentive plans, along with rules and regulations for 12 new scratch-off tickets and three Instant Play games.
