Duncan Family Honored For Contribution To Murray State University

Members of the Duncan family and representatives from Murray State University gathered Thursday afternoon at the former Duncan Farm and Home to commemorate the deep farming roots by unveiling a plaque.

Murray State President Dr. Bob Jackson says they are proud of the development that continues on the land that is home to the Hopkinsville Regional Campus and Breathitt Veterinary Center.

He adds the plaque is very special to the land.

Murray State Board of Regents Chair-elect Dan Kemp expressed his appreciation to the Duncan family. He shared a poem, “Where All May Come”, written by Sara Patsy Unfried for the Hopkinsville Community College ‘Round Table Literary Journal’.


Bill Duncan reminisced about his childhood memories on the farm and what it meant to him for Murray State University to use the land for educational purposes.

Murray State University purchased the farmland in 1999 to construct the buildings after the family had moved 20 years earlier.
