Trigg Magistrates Approve To Hire New Complex Director

Trigg County Fiscal Court members approved to hire a new director for the recreation complex during Monday evening’s meeting.

Magistrate Mike Wright says a personnel committee was formed to choose the new director and made the motion based on their decision to hire Billy Fortner.

Members voted unanimously to hire Fortner to replace Dickie Harris, who had served in the position for six years. Fortner will be responsible for overseeing the daily maintenance of the Trigg County Recreation Complex and Lexie Bush Convention Center. Judge Executive Hollis Alexander told the News Edge Harris submitted his resignation in late April, with Alexander saying Harris did not cite a specific reason for his resignation.

Magistrates approved the first tax settlement under Sheriff Jason Barnes presented by Office Manager Faye Godair.

The sheriff’s settlement is presented to the Trigg County Fiscal Court for their approval annually.

Judge/Executive Hollis Alexander highlighted a relationship between the Amish community in Cerulean and Magistrate Jeff Broadbent following a recent donation to the county.

The next meeting will take place on Monday evening, June 17 at 6:00 in the basement of the Trigg County Annex.
