A small delegation from Christian County will be traveling next week to Carentan, France to visit the official Sister City of Hopkinsville.
The Hopkinsville Convention and Visitors Bureau reports eight people will take the trip to France. That includes Christian County Magistrate Darrell Gustafson, Hopkinsville City Council member Terry Parker, Champion for Fort Campbell Lana Bastin, Christian County Chamber of Commerce Director of Military Affairs Lindsey Geraci, and Hopkinsville Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Brooke Jung. High school students Ellie Colburn and Ashlyn Parker will also go on the trip. Both of the student’s families hosted Carentan exchange students and will stay with the families of the French students they hosted.
The group will arrive in Carentan on June 4 and follow a detailed itinerary of activities including the official 75th anniversary of D-Day at Omaha Beach on June 6 alongside the 101st Airborne Division from Fort Campbell. They will also experience the Cabbage Patch Parade and tour the Normandy Victory Museum and Liberation Ball.
This trip comes after a delegation from France visited Hopkinsville in March to celebrate the official pairing of both cities into the Sister City program.
