Adkins Makes Campaign Stops In Hopkinsville And Cadiz

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rocky Adkins visited with constituents Friday afternoon in Christian and Trigg counties leading up to Tuesday’s Primary Election.

During Adkins’ stop at the former Christian County Sheriff’s Office, he told the News Edge his campaign has a focus on rural and western Kentucky.

He adds they’ve had a lot of issues of concern while out on the campaign trail.

When asked about the projected low turnout from Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, Adkins notes his supporters will come out no matter the turnout.

Meanwhile, Adkins also stopped at The Lost River Creamery at The Cabin in Cadiz Friday afternoon to meet with supporters and retired teachers.

Adkins, the Kentucky House Minority Leader, and a former teacher has met with several teachers and retired teachers across the state and says he understands what they do in the classroom because he has been there and done that. He says he has been standing beside them as they defend their profession and stand up for public education in Frankfort. Adkins says he can separate himself from his opponents because he is “not talking the talk, he’s walking the walk” and he has the experience needed.

When he becomes governor, Adkins says the message coming out of his office will be uplifting teachers and public education.

In the primary election Tuesday, Adkins will face Democrat challengers, Attorney General Andy Beshear, and former state auditor Adam Edelen.
