Senator McConnell Discusses Trade War And Hemp

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell spoke about agriculture, trade, industrial hemp and more during a conversation with Ag and News Director Alan Watts at the Senator’s office in the United States Capitol this week.

Senator McConnell says the biggest challenge they have right now that affects a whole lot of rural areas is the delayed effort for disaster assistance requested several months ago.

He notes this has been a rough several years for agriculture and people are upset over the trade war and tariffs.

Regarding Farm Bill regulations, McConnell used a football analogy saying they are close to the end zone but there are still a couple of things left to do pertaining to hemp crop insurance and CBD oil regulations.

He adds there are a lot of new processors and farmers and a lot of excitement about hemp especially with the decline of the tobacco market.McConnell also briefly touched on the Mueller Report and says there was no collusion found between President Donald Trump and Russia and he thinks it’s time to move forward.

In addition, McConnell discussed raising the age to purchase tobacco products to 21 and tougher vaping regulations.
