Woman Charged In Fatal Hit And Run Formally Sentenced

A Hopkinsville woman who entered a guilty plea earlier this year in connection to a fatal hit and run on East 4th Street in July 2018 was formally sentenced in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon.

Sherita Thomas was initially charged with first-degree murder in connection to the death of 33-year old Stephanie Wagoner but back in January Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling told the News Edge they had reached a plea deal.

He says Thomas was formally sentenced for the second-degree manslaughter and other charges by Judge Andrew Self.

Thomas was arrested and charged in July 2018 when police reported she was traveling on East 4th Street and hit Wagoner, who was leaning against the rear of a vehicle. Thomas then fled the scene and was found at her home on North McPherson Street.
