Trigg County Relay For Life Hosts Annual Survivors Dinner

Cancer survivors from Trigg County came together to uplift each other during the annual Relay for Life dinner Tuesday night.

Carrie McGinnis was the guest speaker for the event. McGinnis, who was diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago Sunday says she doesn’t feel like she actually fought cancer.

She spoke on her short battle with cancer, some survivors guilt she felt after she was cancer free, and even a weight loss journey she started at the beginning of the year.

McGinnis adds when she was contacted by Survivor Chair Tammy Phillips to speak at the event she broke down into tears, as she had never shared her story with the public before.

Teresa Ross, who has been cancer free for around eight months, shared the great services the Hope Lodge in Nashville provides for cancer patients.

The dinner was catered by Genesis Express and sponsored by the Bank of Cadiz and Trust Company.

The survivors in attendance were given a ticket for a chance to win door prizes from businesses in Trigg County. The dinner will be the only event put on this year for the Trigg County Relay for Life.
