Traffic Stop Led To Weapon Charges In Hopkinsville

A traffic stop for loud exhaust led to weapon charges on North Elm Street Wednesday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police say 23-year-old Patrick Poindexter of Hopkinsville was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for having loud exhaust and reportedly became confrontational with law enforcement. Poindexter allegedly closed the car door on officers and refused to identify himself. He was removed by police from the car and started to resist arrest and was tased.

A gun with restricted ammunition and a bag of marijuana were found in the car. A knife was also found on Poindexter after a search at the jail.

Poindexter is lodged in the Christian County Jail on charges of resisting arrest, possession of marijuana, carrying a concealed weapon, using restricted ammunition during a felony, possession of drug paraphernalia and promoting contraband.
