Trigg County Named Work Ready Community For Three More Years

The South West Kentucky Economic Development Council learned that Trigg County has been re-certified as a Work Ready Community.

Associate Director Sharon Butts shared the news during their monthly meeting Monday afternoon.

A Work Ready Community is a measure of a county’s workforce quality. It’s an assurance to the business and industry that the community is committed to providing the highly skilled workforce required in today’s competitive global economy.

In other business, Butts notes they are continuing to reach the gold level in the Tennessee Valley Authority Sustainability program in Hopkinsville and Christian County.

A TVA Gold Sustainable Community is one that has taken a leadership role in implementing sustainable practices and has made a commitment to sustainability efforts focused on economic development.

EDC Executive Director Mark Lindsey says the February unemployment rate across the three-county region remains low.

In other business, Lindsey and board member Lee Conrad will make a presentation to Cadiz City Council next Tuesday evening. This comes after the council voted to immediately cut a sponsorship with the council during their March meeting, noting they have not seen any benefits from the sponsorship.
