The public is invited to a free concert Saturday night featuring musicians from high schools in thirteen counties as well as the Jazz Group Rendez Groove from the 101st Airborne Division Band. The Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA) Third District is hosting the concert at the Alhambra Theatre.
Officials say all student musicians in the All District Jazz Band are chosen through an audition process. The students will prepare for two days as well as attend an educational class from the 101st Airborne Division Band. The band director is Gary “Bo” Clayton, Director of Jazz Ensembles at Austin Peay University.
KMEA Third District Jazz Chair Anthony Darnall says this is the first year for Hopkinsville to host the program, and he couldn’t think of a better location than the newly renovated Alhambra Theatre for the festival. He encourages the community to come to the free concert and support the students. He also thanks Music Central for sponsoring for the event.
The free concert will begin at 6:00 Saturday evening at the Alhambra Theatre.
