New Trial Date Set In Oak Grove Ghost Bridge Murder

Two men accused of killing a Clarksville teen and dumping his body on the side of a road in Oak Grove appeared in Christian Circuit Court Wednesday morning for a motion to set a trial date.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling asked Judge John Atkins to set a new trial date after the original date set in May was vacated and recent negotiations fell through with one of the defendants in the murder case against Leonardo Miller and Deqavion James, who are charged in the death of 19-year old DeAndre Palmer.

Defense attorney, David Rye who represents James, concurred with Boling and asked for a trial date be set this year; however defense attorney, Robin Irwin who represents Miller requested a continuance in order to find co-counsel to assist in the murder case. Judge Atkins denied Irwin’s request and set a new trial date to begin in January.

James and Miller are charged with murder, first-degree robbery and tampering with physical evidence. They are accused of shooting Palmer and hiding his body in a closet before eventually dumping his body on the side of Carter Road near Ghost Bridge in Oak Grove. Palmer’s body was discovered by Oak Grove Police on July 20, 2016.

James and Miller remain lodged in the Christian County Jail.
