Nursing Students At HCC Ace National Licensure Exam

Hopkinsville Community College administrators have received confirmation that the college’s Associate Degree Registered Nurse (ADRN) graduates who tested in 2018 have received a first attempt 100 percent pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Last year, HCC officials indicate the Practical Nursing testing group also had a 100 percent first attempt pass rate on their National Council Licensure Examination. College officials say there were 45 Associate Degree Registered Nurse graduates and 18 Practical Nursing students included in HCC’s 2018 testing group.

The National Council of State Boards of Testing reports 88.29 percent of U.S. nursing students passed the national licensure test for registered nurses and 85.91 percent pass the practical nursing exam on the first attempt. HCC Director of Nursing Joyce Lambruno says the students’ exam results for the 2018 testing group illustrates the strength and rigor of HCC’S nursing program. She notes HCC’s nursing instructors push their students to ensure they are ready for the demands of the profession. Lambruno adds they are proud of their students’ accomplishments and scoring above a national average is an impressive achievement.

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN), a not-for-project organization in Chicago develops and analyzes the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses examination for all graduates of professional nursing programs.

The U.S. Department of Labor statistics show a mean hourly wage of $29.58 for Registered Nurses in Kentucky and a 14.8 percent increase in job growth nationally for RNs from 2016-2026.

Students interested in the nursing field have numerous options at HCC, where approximately 80 students are accepted into the RN program annually and 30 to 35 students are accepted into the PN program.
