Trial Postponed For Man Charged With Killing Two Soldiers

A man charged with the alleged murders of two Fort Campbell soldiers, including his estranged wife, appeared with his attorneys in Christian Circuit Court Monday morning for a motion to postpone his May trial date.

Jeremy Demar’s attorney, Audra Woosnam filed the motion for a continuance requesting her client’s trial be delayed for 13 months, until June 2020. Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling stated he would not object to the trial being continued but he would like the trial to be set in October of this year.

After some discussion about scheduling, Woosnam added they recently became aware of some records in existence relating to Demar’s combat service.

Boling stated his preference would be for two trial dates to be scheduled. Judge John Atkins agreed and scheduled trial dates in October and June 2020, as well as a pretrial conference.

In addition, Judge Atkins asked that any other hearings scheduled by the attorneys be on a Tuesday and not a Wednesday, because that is criminal rule day. He also asked the attorneys to continue to try and resolve the case.

Demar is charged with two counts of murder, attempted murder, assault and burglary in connection to the February 2017 shooting of his estranged wife, 22-year old Priscilla East, and 28-year old Christopher Hoch, who police said was trying to protect everyone in the Oak Grove home from Demar.
