Cadiz Man Charged With 2nd DUI Wednesday

A Cadiz man was arrested for his second DUI on Alexander Road in Trigg County Wednesday evening.

Cadiz Police Officer Tyler Thomas reports the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office had received a call of intoxicated subjects leaving a Princeton Road residence before a dispute and prior to law enforcement’s arrival. Officer Thomas saw the driver, 62-year old Floyd Knight, and his passenger traveling on Alexander Road en route to their home on Woodland Drive and observed him driving reckless and then stop at the top of the hill. Upon contact, Officer Thomas reportedly found an open container of beer in the cup holder and Knight and his passenger were barely conscious and having trouble making complete sentences.

According to the report, Knight was not allowed to perform field sobriety tests due to his extreme intoxication. He was taken into custody at 6:00 p.m. and transported to the Trigg County Justice Center for a breath test and registered a .229 on the intoxilyzer.

Knight was booked into the Christian County Jail charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol under aggravating circumstances second offense, reckless driving, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle and other vehicle and insurance-related offenses.
