Grand Jury Returns Indictments For Wanton Endangerment, Fleeing

The Christian County Grand Jury returned several indictments Friday including for wanton endangerment, assault of a police officer and fleeing.

Benjamin Murray

30-year old Benjamin Dewayne Murray of Hopkinsville was indicted on a laundry list of charges including first degree wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, first degree fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle, first degree fleeing or evading police on foot, DUI third offense, receiving stolen property, and other offenses. The charges stem from December 23, 2018, when Hopkinsville Police were dispatched to a home on Pardue Lane where Murray allegedly had a handgun and then fled in a vehicle when officers arrived at the scene. Police say Murray then suddenly stopped and jumped out of the vehicle and ran, leaving a child inside behind in the car. Murray was apprehended on South Virginia Street after a foot pursuit. When Officers backtracked they reportedly found two handguns, one of which had been reported stolen.

Tasha Blane

The grand jury indicted 42-year old Tasha Rose Blane of Hopkinsville on two counts of third-degree assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, and second degree fleeing or evading police. The charges stem from December 19, 2018, when officers were looking for Blane to serve three outstanding warrants and found her walking along Hancock Street. When officers stopped, Blane ran into a house and fell and was apprehended. Police said when officers were walking her to the patrol car she pulled away and tried to flee and had to be taken to the ground to be handcuffed. As she was being placed in the cruiser, she allegedly started spitting officers.

Chase Cooper

29-year old Chase Michael Cooper of Hopkinsville was indicted on three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment in connection to a wreck on Eagle Way Bypass near Heritage Christian Academy on November 10, 2018. Police said the wreck occurred when Sydnee Hancock of Hopkinsville was driving on Eagle Way Bypass and ran off the road into a field. One of the passengers reportedly told officers that Cooper, who was in the backseat of the vehicle, started arguing with Hancock and grabbed the steering wheel, causing the wreck that injured one of the passengers and endangered the lives of Hancock and another passenger.

Alan Young

And the grand jury indicted 36-year old Alan Young of Hopkinsville for first degree fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle. The charges stem from December 28, 2018, when police reported an officer approached Young in a vehicle and he fled. The officer pursued Young but terminated the police chase when Young allegedly caused danger to other citizens.
