Flood Warning In Christian, Trigg and Todd Counties

Flooding Warnings remain in effect through the mid-morning in Christian, Trigg, Todd, Calloway and other area counties.

The National Weather Service says a flood warning is in effect for the South Fork of Little River at Hopkinsville – Bypass, which will affect Christian and Trigg Counties. Runoff from heavy rainfall will cause the South Fork Little River at Hopkinsville – Bypass to briefly rise into minor flood stage this morning. The river will crest just in minor flood stage at 18.1 feet.
The river will fall below flood stage late this morning.

Meanwhile, a Flood Warning remains in effect until 9:30 for Christian, Trigg, Todd, Calloway and Muhlenberg Counties.  Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Hopkinsville, Murray, Oak Grove, Central City, Cadiz, Elkton, Fort Campbell North, Greenville, Land Between The Lakes Area, Clarksville, Guthrie, Pembroke, Crofton, Powderly, Graham, Energy, Central City–Greenville, Canton, Weir and Dunmor.

The National Weather Service says a Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 6:00 Wednesday night for the entire region.

Through 5 am the Christian County Mesonet recorded 1.76 inches, with Trigg County logging 2.12 inches, Caldwell County recording 2.39 inches and Todd County noting 1.27 inches.

Emergency officials say several roadways have some areas of standing water, with water completely covering some roadways that typically flood.

Never drive cars…trucks or sport utility vehicles through flooded areas. The water may be too deep to allow safe passage. Never allow children to play in or near flood waters. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio or your local media for further statements and possible updated forecasts.
