A Hopkinsville woman told police she left her 9-month-old child at home alone after being arrested Wednesday afternoon.
According to a Hopkinsville police report, 21-year-old Emily Dearinger told police her 9-month-old child was at home alone after she was arrested for non-payment of fines on West 1st Street.
Police went to her home and reportedly found the 9-month-old in a soaked diaper laying in a crib with urine in the crib and blankets.
Dearinger told police she went to an O’Neal Street home to pick up a friend and was only gone for 45 minutes. Police reportedly found partially smoked synthetic marijuana cigarettes in multiple places in the home along with next to the crib.
She is charged with abandonment of a minor, possession of drug paraphernalia and non-payment of fines. The child is in the custody of child services.
