Hopkinsville Man Charged With DUI After Moped Wreck

A Hopkinsville man was charged with DUI second offense, driving on a suspended license, failure of owner to maintain required insurance and possession of an alcoholic beverage container after a moped wreck Tuesday afternoon.
According to a Hopkinsville police report, 61-year-old Charles Barber was on East 20th Street when he attempted to turn onto South Main Street.  His moped hit the side of a car driven by 66-year-old April Jones of Hopkinsville,  who was driving north on South Main Street.
Barber reportedly made obscene gestures to a vehicle behind him before the wreck and told police he had been drinking.
A cold beer was found in Barber’s moped console.  According to the report Barber was taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Medical Center.
