Kirby Wallace Appears For Arraignment In Montgomery Co.

A Tennessee man arrested last year after a massive manhunt in Montgomery and Stewart counties appeared in Montgomery County Circuit Court for his arraignment Friday.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Sandra Brandon reports Kirby Wallace entered a not guilty plea to charges of first degree murder, especially aggravated kidnapping, aggravated kidnapping, especially aggravated robbery, three counts of aggravated burglary, two counts of theft of property and two counts of possession of a firearm commission of dangerous felon. She says the eleven count indictment returned by the Montgomery County Grand Jury stemmed from the home invasion and kidnapping of an elderly Palmyra woman on September 27, 2018, and the murder and carjacking of a man in the Indian Mound community on October 1, 2018.

As previously reported by the News Edge, Wallace appeared for an arraignment in Stewart County on January 14 after he was indicted on nine counts, including charges of murder, attempted murder, arson, robbery, and kidnapping. The charges stem from September 2018 when he allegedly attacked a Stewart County couple, set their house on fire and killed 63-year old Brenda Smith and seriously injured her husband, Teddy.

Wallace was added to the TBI’s Ten Most Wanted List in September of last year. Multiple law enforcement agencies launched conducted a massive search for Wallace for 13 days until he was arrested on October 5 in a wooded area near the Montgomery-Stewart County Line.
