Carnegie Library Needing Donations To Complete Renovation

James Coursey

Over a century ago, multi-millionaire Andrew Carnegie donated funds to the city of Hopkinsville to build a public library. The library served the city for over 50 years from 1914 to 1976 and remained empty until 2007. Renovations are currently underway on the building located on Liberty Street but donations are still needed to finish the project.

James Coursey, a board member for the Carnegie Library says they initially raised over $500,000 in the beginning stages of the renovation, thanks to a community development block grant and numerous donors.
