Former Kentucky Auditor Adam Edelen filed a letter of intent with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance Thursday to raise money for the upcoming governor’s race, according to media reports. Although he has not officially filed to run for the governor’s seat, Thursday’s filing indicates his intent to run.

Edelen was elected state auditor in 2011 but lost to Republican Mike Harmon when he ran for re-election in 2015.

Media reports Edelen’s running mate is businessman Gill Holland, who lost a race for the Louisville Metro Council in 2016.

Thus far, Republican Governor Matt Bevin has said he will run for another term, and Democrats Attorney General Andy Beshear and state House Minority Leader Rocky Adkins have announced their campaigns to run for the governor’s seat in 2019.
