A Crofton man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and then fired a gun at her and their two children shortly before midnight Sunday night.

According to an arrest report, deputies responded to a home in the 100 block of East Mill Street in Crofton where his girlfriend reported that 37-year old Nicholas Almon had assaulted her at a home on Lewis Road and then fired two or three shots at her and their two children as they fled the scene. Almon followed her to a home on East Mill Street where he began yelling at her and two other adults and then again discharged a firearm before leaving the scene. Deputies say they confiscated two firearms from the scene.

When deputies went to the home on Lewis Road to locate Almon, he tried to flee in a pickup truck but drove about 300 feet and slammed on the brakes. Almon reportedly ignored commands to get out of the vehicle and told deputies they were “going to have to kill him”. A deputy opened the truck’s door while another deputy held a gun on Almon and he was taken into custody.

During a search of the home, deputies reportedly found a 22 rifle leaning against the couch in the living room, another firearm in the closet in the master bedroom, along with 33 marijuana plants growing inside the home, two digital scales, 9.5 ounces of marijuana inside a bag as well as in several different mason jars and other drug paraphernalia.

Almon was lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with first-degree assault domestic violence, fourth-degree assault domestic violence, first-degree wanton endangerment, trafficking and cultivating marijuana, fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
