Man Facing Assault And Resisting Arrest Charges

Tavaris Quarles/Christian Co. Jail

A Hopkinsville man was arrested after police responded to a shots fired call on West 7th Street early Saturday morning.

Police were dispatched to the 1500 block of West 7th Street just after 3:00 a.m. and found several individuals standing outside in a parking lot. The officers said they heard 29-year old Tavaris Quarles yelling obscenities while several other people tried to get him to go inside. Upon contact with Quarles, police say he ignored their commands to place his hands behind his back and continued to resist arrest. Quarles was taken to the ground, at which time he reportedly tried to stand and was tased two times before he was taken into custody.

Quarles was booked into the Christian County Jail charged with second-degree disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was also served a Christian County indictment warrant for first-degree assault. No details of the assault were provided on the arrest warrant.
