Guthrie Man Charged With Wanton Endangerment

A shots fired called in Hopkinsville over the weekend led to the arrest of a Todd County man on wanton endangerment and drug trafficking charges.

According to Hopkinsville Police, officers responded to the call on Vine Street around 2:45 Sunday morning and observed a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed. Police made a traffic stop and during the investigation, officers saw the vehicle’s passenger, 42-year old Michael Mimms of Guthrie, bend down and place something directly underneath the vehicle. Police reportedly found a plastic bag with 14 individually wrapped baggies containing marijuana.

Mimms was taken into custody and booked into the Christian County Jail charged with first-degree wanton endangerment, trafficking marijuana less than eight ounces, and tampering with physical evidence.

Officers returned to Vine Street where the shots were found and spoke to a witness who pointed out where the gun had been discharged. Officers found seized four shell casings and placed them into evidence.
