Bond Denied For Former Kuttawa Clerk And her Husband

A Lyon County District Court judge has denied bond for the former Kuttawa City Clerk and her husband who are facing multiple counts of forgery-related charges.

The West Kentucky Star reports Katie Harrison and her husband, Clayton Harrison, appeared for an arraignment before Judge Jamus Redd Wednesday. Judge Redd assigned a public defender to the couple and denied bond after Lyon County Attorney Lee Wilson argued they were both a flight risk.

The couple was reported missing after Katie didn’t show up for work in July. After her disappearance, Kuttawa officials notified state police that funds were possibly missing. State police launched an investigation and reportedly discovered several thousands of dollars were missing.

According to Kentucky State Police, the couple was extradited back to Lyon County last week after they were arrested in Sevierville, Tennessee in mid-November on a charge of worthless checks and were held in jail on warrants for being a fugitive from another state.

Katie Harrison faces 24 counts of second-degree forgery and her husband is charged with ten counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument.
