An Illinois man convicted last month of murdering his sister in Lyon County more than two years ago was formally sentenced Monday. 66-year old Arthur Long was sentenced to life in prison and will be eligible for parole in 20 years, according to WPSD Channel 6 in Paducah.

A jury found Long guilty in the death of his sister, 68-year old Nancy Minor of Eddyville on November 30, 2016. The Eddyville Police Department and the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Woodrow Street for a welfare check on November 30, 2016, and found Minor unresponsive inside the residence with multiple blunt force injuries. She was pronounced deceased by the Lyon County Coroner.

Kentucky State Police reported they were contacted by Tennessee Highway Patrol in the early morning hours of December 5, 2016, after Long had been arrested following a vehicle pursuit near Cookeville, Tennessee in Putnam County. At the time of his arrest, he was driving a car he had stolen from his sister.
