A Hopkinsville man is facing DUI and other offenses after crashing into a couple of vehicles in the parking lot of the Croft Building on East 20th Street over the weekend.

Hopkinsville Police report officers observed 34-year old Anthony Barrett driving southbound on South Virginia Street shortly after 1:30 Sunday morning with one front headlight out and damage to the front end of the vehicle. Police say Barrett also failed to stop at a stop sign at Croft and East 20th streets and then continued through the parking lot and hit two vehicles before coming to a stop in the front yard of 205 East 20th Street. Upon contact, officers report Barrett was passed out behind the wheel with the vehicle still running. After he was awakened, police say Barrett admitted to smoking spice before getting behind the wheel and driving. Officers reportedly found a partially smoked synthetic marijuana cigarette was found in the center console in the vehicle. While on the scene, police say another vehicle pulled up and stated Barrett’s vehicle had hit their vehicle and he fled the scene after the accident.

Barrett was lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident and failing to render aid, possession of synthetic drugs and traffic-related offenses.
